Teens Experiencing Facebook Fatigue
One in five (19%) teenagers who have a @Facebook account no longer visit Facebook or are using it less.
Yep. Thought leaders are almost done with Facebook. The kids are done with facebook. The only people who are going to be using facebook in 5 years are our parents.
100% agree. Facebook fatigue hit me after about 18 months. I’m all but done with it. My personal feeling is that the fatigue comes from its success. What once was a tool for enhanced sharing with emotionally close or geographically distant friends, through mass popularity and the dilution of a person’s network, has now become a venue for simple, increased exposure. Which, on the surface, may be great for brands to market things, but consider it deeper and it’s undermining the value of the network by simultaneously raising consumer suspicions about privacy, and muddying the delight factors that were once, simply, novel.
To steal a line from Yogi Berra, Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.
